FAQ About Manor Lake Assisted Living & Memory Care
At MorningStar, each day is filled with opportunities to ignite a plan that enhances health and wellness, stimulates your brain and encourages connection.
Whether physical, intellectual, spiritual or social, our Life Enrichment Teams present creative ways to stay active and productive for man’s good and God’s glory. Tapping their unique talents and experiences, some residents choose to lead special interest clubs themselves. We often hit the road in the MorningStar bus, and head for a cultural destination, a movie or a scenic drive. All this activity comes with the benefit of not just camaraderie and fun, but some accountability (for you are truly missed if you don’t show up).
Learn more about the bustle beneath our roof by visiting our community. Peek at “Life Around our House,” or look closer at our monthly calendar.
We have scheduled transportation every week for those needing a ride to a medical appointments, with two vehicles to serve you, both of which can accommodate a walker or wheelchair. You will be able to schedule your transportation needs through our Wellness team or Life Enrichment Coordinator. We are also provide transportation to organized activities and cultural events at no charge.
Through proper diets and healthy choices, food is a healing medicine unlike any other. It is also one of the great joys of living, especially when enjoyed in community. Breaking bread together provides far more than physical nutrients; it bonds us as family and friends.
At MorningStar, we not only recognize that fact, we celebrate and elevate it. Our trained Executive Chefs design seasonal menus that feature the freshest ingredients from the highest quality producers. There is nothing like fresh produce to stimulate the senses and the appetite.
MorningStar meals are largely prepared from scratch, just as our residents would have done in years past. We welcome resident feedback, and tailor our menu to their suggestions.
We also understand diets alter as we age. Our Chefs are trained in how best to modify menus and recipes to accommodate changing needs and tastes. Our nutritional choices include low sodium, sugar free, no sugar added, vegetarian and low fat for residents to self-manage.
To ensure that you are not paying for services you do not need, we staff in accordance with the level of care (acuity) of our given population of residents. As residents’ individual needs change, so changes the number of care managers on the floor.
WE ABSOLUTELY LOVE OUR FOUR-LEGGED FRIENDS! We are pet friendly, recognizing the tremendous ministry animals are to all of us. We have a spacious backdoor courtyard where you can play with your dog and wonderful walking paths surrounding the community. Some communities have a weight limit on pets, and we do need to assess an animal’s appropriateness for our community on a case-by-case basis. There are also some restrictions on breeds. We require a one-time, nonrefundable pet fee.
We require care managers to be certified in both CPR and First Aid; of course, we comply. In every state in which we operate, care managers complete orientation (including a three-day shadow), Radiance culture training, 8-hour dementia training, and ongoing training in specific care needs. Our Med Tech (QMAPs) are additionally trained in medication administration.
