FAQ About Manor Lake Assisted Living & Memory Care
Our population ratio often fluctuates and our residents enjoy the diversity. The average age of our residents is 80 years old with a few outliers on both ends of the spectrum. Our residents enjoy listening to classical music or watching an Opera on PBS. We have a great outdoor area where residents can relax and enjoy the fresh air and wildlife or take a walk around the premises. They also enjoy board games (Dominoes, Bingo,) sing-a-long time, chair exercises, and Birthday celebrations.
We offer daily morning walks and/or chair exercises (whichever the resident is capable of safely performing.) We share daily News, History time, Board games, and we have movie time 3x a week with a special treat from the Chef.
We are located in the Beverly Terrace neighborhood of San Carlos and conveniently near Highlands, Arguello and Heather Parks. We are just a few miles away from Belmonts Carlmont Village Shopping Center. The closest grocery stores are Devonshire, Safeway and Holly Market and the nearest coffee shops and restaurants include, Starbucks, Cafe Bliss, Piacere Ristorante, Ya-Ua Yogurt & Pastries and Subway. Our location is primarily car dependent, but has plenty of walking space.
We have a passenger van to transport our residents to and from appointments and/or errands, and a commuter bus for those much enjoyed day trips or scenic outings.
Our chef has been on staff for several years and knows each resident in our Community. He mixes things up for the residents to ensure they are experiencing a variety of foods, which is cooked fresh daily. Meals included a soup of the day, along with a variety of meats & mixed vegetables, along with a variety of fruits and fresh-baked cookies. Our Chef also ensures that any dietary restrictions are adhered to. You will often find him visiting with the residents in the dining areas, asking how they liked the meal and what they would like to have in the future.
Each resident is equipped with a call pendant and each restroom is equipped with a call button; both connect directly to the front desk and staff members. We have hardwood flooring in all community spaces and bedrooms and each shower room is universally accessible. We have trees along our secured perimeter fencing, providing for a full and comforting scenic view.
We reach out to our families on a monthly basis in two formats; by individual updates and a monthly newsletter which is distributed to all family members simultaneously.
Our ratio can fluctuate between 4-to-5 residents to 1 staff member, depending on the care the residents require. This is our standard ratio and does not change regardless of the shift (day, swing, graveyard.)
We do allow for small pets but they must stay in the residents room. This is a safety preventative measure for other residents , who may be allergic, prone to falling, etc.
In addition to State requirements, our new hires are required to job shadow for their first 30-days on the job and we also engage in licensed courses on a quarterly, semi-annual and annual basis, in order to achieve the desired objectives.
For the safety of our residents and staff, we've established and maintain an egress system.
