FAQ About Manor Lake Assisted Living & Memory Care
We believe that consistent quality of care is a product of a consistent culture … one in which the right team members are well trained, laser-focused on quality, and held accountable for achieving identified goals. At the same time, we recognize that properly caring for individuals with dementia requires specific knowledge, training and understanding.
Our focus is to …
• Accommodate and balance concerns about personal safety and autonomy
• Recognize and build on a resident’s strengths, capacities, choices, and values
• Practice person-centered care directed to the individual not the disease
• Understand that the cognitive status of the resident will change over time and to adjust care and services accordingly
Our dementia specific education includes at least the following:
• Nature of dementia and special needs in caring for residents with dementia
• Communication skills and techniques – verbal and nonverbal
• Behavior management techniques and problem solving strategies
Men and women with an average age of 85 years that like to be actively involved. Exercise programs, musical programs, educational events and outings are favorites of our residents. As well as arts and crafts, cards and games, bible study, water aerobics. We have numerous volunteers that come in to interact with our residents. We have a young professional who comes in weekly and plays poker with the residents. They play for chocolate and look forward to seeing him every week.

Healthy aging is about finding better ways to serve you. At Camellia Place, this is best achieved through early intervention and coordinated care. Our household model ensures an intimate staffing pattern that far exceeds that required by licensure standards. Each Residence has 16 private suites and our base staffing reflects a standard of 1 direct caregiver to every 8 residents during waking hours and 1 to 16 during sleeping hours. Our staffing is based on care needs and may increase accordingly as the number of residents and care needs increase.
We love for our furry friends to visit on our porches or park areas, but currently do not allow any to live at Camellia Place.
Our team of caregivers only includes certified nursing assistants (CNA’s) and certified medication aides (CMA’s). Our approach to excellence starts with hiring the best and further honing their skills with our comprehensive schedule of training. Camellia Place is special not just because of its unique design but in large part to strength of our well trained and caring team. You are guaranteed to feel and see the difference.
Specially trained team members provide care and services in our Memory Care Houses. Our commitment to excellence starts with a dedicated leader focused on the unique needs of the residents and the training of the staff that care for them. Our Manager of Memory Care is a nursing leader dedicated to the oversight of all resident needs, team member supervision, and care and service coordination.
The unique household model at Camellia Place ensures an intimate staffing pattern that far exceeds that required by licensure standards. Each Residence has 16 private suites and our base staffing reflects a standard of 1 direct caregiver to every 8 residents during waking hours, and 1 to 16 during sleeping hours. Numbers of staff members on duty are sufficient to meet the needs of the residents and increase as the number of residents increase, and the resident care needs increase or change. Our approach begins with the resident assessment and development of the individual service plan.
The unique design of our household neighborhood includes 6 individual residences, 3 for assisted living and 3 for memory care. Access to all houses is provided by keyless technology, enabling you to enter and exit your home and your private suite any time day or night.
The three memory houses are specifically dedicated to the care and needs of residents with memory challenges. Each house features 16 private suites with a total community capacity of 48 residents. The care and services are more structured than in the general community yet remain flexible to accommodate individual needs. Precautions have been taken to ensure that our self-contained Memory Care Houses lessen the opportunity for unsafe wandering and elopement through a secured key pad entry and exit system.
Resident’s with dementia need support to feel productive, useful and involved. Our focus on therapeutic programming is intended to establish routine and structure and enhance quality of life. We view every experience, moment by moment, as therapeutic and focus on integration into the routine of each day. This structured routine is coupled with spontaneous individualized activities designed to stimulate the mind, body and soul. The final component, provision of adequate time for individualized rest and sleep, is designed to re-energize and rejuvenate. In our memory Care Houses, therapeutic structure and routine are provided 7 days per week.
You can breathe easy knowing our team of highly-qualified caregivers led by a nurse understands the special health needs of seniors and is available 24 hours a day.
