The residents at Heritage Elm Grove love to stay active! We have a very robust Life Enrichment Program which keeps all of the residents connected, happy, and moving! The average age of residents throughout the community is about 78 years old, however, we have ages all over the map. All residents are above the age of 55.

We offer a variety of fun and interesting activities in order to enrich the lives of our residents. We encourage all of our residents to be out-and-about and get involved! Our most popular activities include but are not limited to: BINGO, Exercise, Glee Club, Community Outings, Live Entertainment, Happy Hour, Spa Services, Gardening, and many more!

Heritage Elm Grove is located right in the heart of Downtown Elm Grove! We are near Sendik's, Sunset Playhouse, the Post Office, local boutiques, Elm Grove Park, and a resident favorite, Fazio's Chocolates! Our community is also a short drive to Brookfield Square Mall, The Milwaukee County Zoo, Target and other local establishments.

Heritage Elm Grove does have a van that is used for scheduled Life Enrichment outings. Though we do not provide transportation to personal appointments, we are always happy to assist in arranging transportation through local outsourced transportation companies.

What makes the chef or dining program at Heritage Elm Grove exceptional? What kind of menu can assisted living residents expect?

Heritage Elm Grove has worked hard to ensure that all residents have an exceptional dining experience! All culinary staff are required to participate in continuing education courses throughout their employment. The culinary staff are also Serve-Safe Certified. We are staffed with an Executive Chef who oversees the entire culinary experience, Cooks, and Dietary Aides. The menu has a wide variety of selections and is never the same day-to-day! Please note, we are also able to accommodate special diet textures, requests, and restrictions.

What safety features or security measures does Heritage Elm Grove offer to assisted living residents?

The safety of our Residents and Staff is our top priority here at Heritage Elm Grove! Each resident is given a Call Pendant in which they press in order to ask for assistance from our 24 hour Care Staff. Our current average Call Light wait time is 3 minutes, and this is tracked daily by management to ensure timely response. Heritage Elm Grove also has a secure lobby after hours, and is staffed with a Concierge seven days a week for extra oversight and assistance!

How does Heritage Elm Grove keep residents' families informed about their loved ones?

Communication is KEY here at Heritage Elm Grove! Our leadership team and care staff know how important it is to communicate with our residents and their loved-ones in order to ensure that everyone is up to date on current needs, and care. We are able to update you in the way that you would most prefer. We can initiate phone calls, email updates, care conferences, FaceTime and other Virtual visits. Residents have the option of signing up for our Physician Service through Bluestone. If a resident is signed up for services through Bluestone, the resident and their family also have access the the Portal for real-time updates.

Our staffing ratio is typically about 1:8 . This changes based on census and acuity as we want to ensure that staffing is always appropriate based on the needs of our residents. Care staff is here 24 hours a day, and our average call light wait time is exceptional at an average of only 3 minutes.

If Heritage Elm Grove accepts dogs or cats, what indoor/outdoor areas can they enjoy?

We are a pet-friendly community here at Heritage Elm Grove! Small cats and dogs are allowed in our Assisted Living and Enhanced Assisted Living communities if the resident is able to care for their pet independently. We are lucky to have a community surrounded by wooded area and also are equipped with a secure courtyard which all residents and furry friends are welcome to use!

What ongoing senior care training does the staff receive?

All of the staff at Heritage Elm Grove are required to complete 15 hours of continued education courses throughout the year. In order to immediately address any changes, and also to continue to provide education to our staff, we perform a Daily Care Focus Flash Training session to all employees. This allows us to address any new changes, review resident care, ensure all daily tasks are completed timely, give immediate updates to staff, and give continued training.

What safety features or security measures does Heritage Elm Grove provide to protect residents who wander?

We have a concierge at the front desk seven days a week for extra support to our residents and families. Safety is always our number one priority! If a resident is at risk to wander, our interdisciplinary team would work with the resident and family to consider placement in our secure Memory Care Community.
